Psychotherapy is more than just a way to manage mental health symptoms or diagnoses; it offers a holistic approach to gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves, our experiences, and our reactions.
Through the development of self-awareness and insight, facilitated by a supportive therapeutic relationship, therapy helps us become more resilient and authentic.
It involves setting specific goals and utilizing various therapeutic approaches to address personal challenges.
The personal growth not only enhances our internal well-being but also allows us to engage with the world in a balanced and fulfilling way, attending both to our own needs and the needs of those around us.
My name is Layla Matar and I am a Registered Psychotherapist member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). My academic background includes obtaining a Master’s in Counselling and Spirituality, coupled with a Graduate Diploma in Couple Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University.
I find joy in bringing smiles to others and being a part of their healing journey. There's an innate pleasure in knowing I've assisted individuals with their needs and healing
In my therapy space, creating a safe and comfortable environment for clients is my top priority. I firmly believe that to facilitate positive change and encourage vulnerability, individuals must feel secure and safe to open up
As a psychotherapist, I adopt a direct approach, providing tailored challenges to clients ready to embrace them. Acknowledging the diversity of experiences and needs, I understand the complexities individuals face in personal growth. While change can be intimidating, I believe it is achievable by focusing on making one-degree shifts
In the therapeutic setting, I prioritize building awareness, recognizing emotions, identifying behavioural patterns, and exploring strategies for effectively navigating and regulating emotions and experiences
